Bylaws Committee -- September 21, 2002

Chairperson:   Myra Wright Powell (IN)

Other Committee Members Present:  Emma Mahar (MI), Thalia Sipple (IL), Joan Nardi (MI), and Jean Wright (MI, ex-officio).

Summary / Recommendations:

• The committee will further research the chapter in good standing issue regarding international issues and the regional voting status and time lines.
• Change Article IV, Section II, Term of Office to read as follows:                                                           "The term of office in the GREAT LAKES REGION shall be two (2) years, beginning with installation and appointments at the conclusion of the Regional Professional Conference, held in the even-numbered years.  No officer except the Treasurer, Newsletter Editor, Parliamentarian, Historian, and Technology Coordinator shall hold the same office for more than two (2) terms, whether or not these are consecutive terms."
• Change Article IV, Section VI, Election of Officers to include an appointed office of Technology Coordinator.   It would also change all the bylaws sections addressing the various offices to include this new office.
