"Balance Time"

Exodus  20:8-11

"Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom."

It is Sunday - time to worship and that is the subject that God addresses in the fourth commandment of the Decalogue.  There has been a lot of Christian books and teaching about the stewardship of money and talent.  But what about the stewardship of our time?  It cannot be recovered like money or reclaimed like talent.  What is wasted is gone and what is misused cannot be redeemed.  Learning to live a well-ordered life with appropriately allotted time for family, friends, exercise, rest, work, sleep, and spiritual devotions and service is important.  Today's tight schedules tend to squeeze out God and that would be a violation of the fourth commandment.  Be careful with your time.

"Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy.  Six days you shall labor and do all your work but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God.  On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your manservant or maidservant, nor your animals, nor the alien within your gates.  For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day.  Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy."    (Exodus 20:8-11)
