Instruction |
|
Our most
common arrangement for teacher assignments has been two teachers for each grade
level in a predominately self--contained approach to instruction. In
addition to this traditional opportunity, our fifth and sixth grade students
experience the changing of classrooms and teachers for four subjects per day
(Language, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies). Our fourth
grade students change classes for one subject, but otherwise are
self-contained. We are also fortunate to provide services for learning
disabled students through an Inclusion program.
Other special academic
opportunities include:
 |
Gifted and Talented Education (classroom, grades 3-6; after
school enrichment programs, grades 4-6).
|
 |
Speech and Hearing services (grades K-6).
|
 |
Bilingual tutoring for E.S.L. (English as a Second
Language) students (grades K-6).
|
 |
Special Area Classes -- Art, Music, Library, and Physical
Education (grades K-6).
|
We are able to utilize the services of our Media Specialist due to the
sharing of services with Borden Junior-Senior High School. Our students
also have the part-time services of an At-Risk Counselor (two days per week) and
a school nurse (two half-days per week).
Our V.I.P. (Venturing into
Possibilities) program offers many enrichment opportunities to all students,
grades 1-4. These enrichment classes are provided by current staff members
and outside community volunteers. The learning experiences of our school
are expanded even further by the services of the parent volunteer program.
